The True Grit Ticket

August 29th, 2008 · 2 Comments

True Grit True Grit is one of my very favorite movies. Its the tale of Rooster Cogburn, an aging marshal, who has the prediliction for the sauce, and Mattie Ross, a young lady with unbelievable moxie bent on revenge for the murder of her father. Together these two underdogs do what neither of them could do alone. Mattie, whose innocence demands justice but has not the experience nor the ability to attain it; and Rooster, whose life has provided him a vast well of experiences dealing with evil and injustice,  but scarred by the fight, prefers the bottle to the battle.  Mattie’s youth and vigor drives an old veteran to be a great man once again. It is a wonderful story, and it is the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw Sarah Palin standing on the stage today with our old naval pilot John McCain. This Annie Oakley like executive, who doesn’t know any better that you just don’t defeat a sitting governor in the primaries (a corrupt one to boot), and the legendary warrior who, for honor, spits in his captives face when offered an easy out. What a combo, one which I am thoroughly excited about.

In the film, Robert Duval played the villian, Ned Pepper He also just happens to be narrating the entire GOP convention next week.  Yes, its Ned Pepper bringing us the True Grit ticket. God I love it.

Sarah Palin : I view her as a Modern Day Anne Oakley
    ‘She’s quick on the trigger,
with targets not much bigger then a pen point (read Pin Head Politicians),
    She’s number one!’

For the Third time in my adult life, I am proud to be a Republican! The first was when Ronald Wilson Reagan took the oath of office. The second was when the 1996 Republican Congress passed welfare reform legislation and pressured Bill Clinton into signing it into law!

FYI: First Michael Phelps and now, as you have pointed out, Robert Duval will bring a sense of pride to the Old Line State of Maryland
“Duvall grew up in a military family, living for a time in Annapolis near the Naval Academy. He attended Severn School in Severn Maryland.”

A Vote for the “True Grit Ticket” will put a real Cow Girl in the White House! (Anybody who’s favorite meal is Moose Stew must have TRUE GRIT!)

okay, so huge lessons to learn or crorect1. why can’t the Niners Score or defend in the first half. all three teams scored and defended the Niners in the first half of the playoff games and the SB. Why could those teams do both and the Niners could not do at least one of them.2. a full spring training camp should just help improve what Kaep did this year3. If Justin Smith comes back 100% that will be huge for the defense. He had no strength to push the line man out of his way. I think back to last years playoffs when he pushed the lineman all the way back to the QB and then reached out and dragged the QB to the ground with his good right arm!!oh and I heard on KNBR Montana, Young and now Flacco are the only QB’s to throw for 11 TD’s in SB’s. Say what you will about Flacco, he is in an elite group right there. And by not signing an extension at the beginning of the year just helped his pocket book. cha ching, cha ching, cha ching!! I have no doubt that the Niners will be in the playoffs and returning to the SB for the next couple of years.
