All good points. Perhaps the predecessor to Wolfolowitz will pick up on the reforms that his administration began undertaking.

John...I already been giving aid to an African family in Malawi for about 7 years now at Childreach.com , so I don't need to find a sponsor site. So, I don't feel ashamed on that chord. Nor do I feel bad about posting this; I think this economist made some good points which should be considered, after all Africa has been subject to an enormous amount of aid the last 40 years and their livelihoods have not gotten any better. Somebody needs to ask is there better ways of approaching the fight on poverty and disease then our current paradigm.

Shame on you - Dave, not so much because you support this perspective (do you?) But I took your silence is a form of consent. Posting this article without commentary seems a little out of synch with the spirit of abolitionofman.com. I suggest you go to http://www.sos-usa.com and become a sponsor as pennance.

Shame on who? And shame for what? I didn't give my opinion on aid to Africa, I just pointed to an interesting point of view from an African.

Considering you are willing to got to such great lenghts to justify the war on terror along with the billions of dollars that have ended up wasted, why is that you are not willing to do the same for the "war" on AIDS. Shame on you.

What part is so hard to understand?

It's the old cliche repeated ad nausium, "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime!"

Geez, what an interesting perspective, one you don’t hear every day. China has taken the approach of aiding in building the infrastructure of Africa while we continue to give money, drugs and food. I’m curious if this economist were interviewed about the Chinese approach what he would have to say. Also, he must realize that such a pullout of aid would initially do more short term harm to the African populus as it would be the next generation that could stand on their own two feet, this one has to be far too dependent on the current programs to ever do so.
